Heaton Goalie Equipment was created by Brian Heaton and founded in March of 1988 (Windsor, Ontario). Heaton goalie equipment quickly gained fame and revolutionized the modern day goaltending equipment industry with the unique designs, pad construction and the use of colored materials on a wide range basis. During his prime, Brian Heaton had many big name goalies in the NHL wearing his Heaton goalie equipment in the 1990’s such as Felix Potvin, Martin Brodeur, Marty Turco, Guy Herbert, Curtis Joseph, Olaf Kolzig and Garth Snow.
Steve Shields made a name for himself while attending the University of Michigan as he became the first NCAA goaltender in history to reach 100 career wins and was a two time All American at U of M. Drafted in the 5th round (#101 overall) in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres, Shields went on to have a 13 year professional hockey career with NHL teams such as the Buffalo Sabres, San Jose Sharks, Anaheim Ducks, Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers and the Atlanta Thrashers.
