Sergei Bobrovsky is a current National Hockey League goaltending for the Florida Panthers. Despite not being drafted into the NHL, his impressive performances in Russia caught the attention of NHL scouts. Bobrovsky signed with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2010, making his NHL debut during the 2010-11 season. He quickly earned the starting job and showed promise as a young goaltender, although he faced some struggles in his second season with the team. Bobrovsky was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2012, where he truly blossomed as a top-tier goaltender. During his time in Columbus, he won the Vezina Trophy twice (2013, 2017), awarded to the NHL's best goaltender. Bobrovsky was instrumental in leading the Blue Jackets to their first-ever playoff series victory in 2019, when they swept the heavily favored Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round. Bobrovsky signed a seven-year, $70 million contract with the Florida Panthers in 2019. While his first few seasons in Florida were marked by inconsistency, he regained his form during the 2022-23 season, helping the Panthers reach the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1996. The following season, with Bobrovsky’s stellar playoff performance during the 2024 campaign, he helped the Florida Panthers with their first ever Stanley Cup.
