Ed Belfour is a former National Hockey League goaltender that is considered by many as one of the best goaltenders to play in the NHL. After winning a National Championship with the University of North Dakota in 1987, Belfour signed as a free agent with the Chicago Blackhawks the following season. Once with Chicago, Eddie "The Eagle" was born. While in Chicago, Belfour racked up many awards such the Calder Memorial Trophy, the Vezina Trophy and the Williams Jennings Trophy. After being traded to the San Jose Sharks in the winter of 1997, Belfour moved on once again in the summer of 1997 to the Dallas Stars. It was here Belfour found his game once again and played 60+ games a year for the Stars. In 1999, Belfour lead the Stars to the Stanley Cup finals, beating the Buffalo Sabres in the 3rd OT. In 2011, Belfour was inducted into the Hockey Hall Of Fame. Since retiring from professional hockey, Belfour has gone on to start an extremely popular whiskey company with his family called Belfour Spirits which is based out of Dallas, Texas.
