Colten Ellis is a current National Hockey League goaltender for the Buffalo Sabres. Originally drafted 93rd overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2019 NHL Draft, Ellis spent several seasons developing in the AHL before being claimed off waivers by Buffalo in October 2025. Ellis made his NHL debut with the Sabres during the 2025–26 season, appearing in 16 games and posting an 8–4–2 record, 2.90 GAA, .903 save percentage and one shutout. He quickly earned a reputation as a dependable young goaltender and provided valuable depth behind Buffalo’s established netminders. At 6-foot-1, Ellis combines athleticism, quick reactions and a strong work ethic. He remains under contract with Buffalo through the 2026–27 season and is part of the Sabres’ goaltending depth alongside Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Alex Lyon.
