Bill Ranford is a former National Hockey League goaltender who was drafted 52nd overall by the Boston Bruins in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Bruins during the 1985-86 season. Ranford is most famously associated with the Edmonton Oilers. He joined the team in 1987 after being traded from Boston. He became the starting goaltender for the Oilers and played a crucial role in their 1990 Stanley Cup championship run. Ranford was named the Conn Smythe Trophy winner as the most valuable player during the playoffs that year. After retiring from the NHL, Ranford transitioned into coaching. He has served as the goaltending coach for the Los Angeles Kings since 2006. Under his guidance, the Kings won two Stanley Cups in 2012 and 2014.
