In the 2024 Rose Bowl, the University of Michigan Wolverines secured a thrilling 27-20 overtime victory against Alabama in the College Football Playoff (CFP) semifinal, advancing to their first National Championship game since 1997. Blake Corum’s decisive touchdown in overtime, along with a critical defensive stand, sealed the victory for Michigan. The Wolverines showcased resilience, rallying from a fourth-quarter deficit to tie the game with just over a minute remaining thanks to a J.J. McCarthy-to-Roman Wilson touchdown pass. Michigan’s defense played a pivotal role, recording six sacks and limiting Alabama’s passing attack, while McCarthy threw for 221 yards and three touchdowns. The victory marked Michigan’s first Rose Bowl win since 1998 and extended their unbeaten season to 14-0. A week later, Michigan defeated Washington 34-13 in the CFP National Championship, securing their first title in 27 years. McCarthy and Corum led the charge in a dominant performance, cementing the Wolverines’ historic season as champions.
