Mike Vernon is a former National Hockey League goaltender who was drafted 56th overall in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. Vernon went on to play 19 seasons in the NHL with Calgary Flames, Detroit Red Wings, San Jose Sharks and the Florida Panthers. A goaltender with over 300 wins to his credit, Vernon won the Stanley Cup in 1989 with the Calgary Flames and again in 1997 with the Detroit Red Wings. Vernon appeared in five NHL All Star Games, won the Williams Jennings Trophy in 1996 with Chris Osgood and was named the winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy as the Most Valuable Player of the 1997 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
